We are a small ceramic shop located in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco, in the peaceful village of Ait Hamza . Here, ceramics are more than objects — they are expressions of culture, skill, and everyday life. Each piece carries the stories and traditions of generations of Middle Atlas artisans.
The Story Behind Harnile
The name Harnile comes from the Amazigh language spoken in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco and refers to pottery decoration—the patterns, colors, and hand-painted details that give each ceramic piece its unique character. Inspired by this tradition, Salah Eddine Falfouli founded Harnile with a simple goal: to share the beauty of Moroccan pottery with people beyond the region.
Working alongside local artisans in Ait Hamza, Harnile celebrates the craftsmanship and creativity that have been passed down through generations. Every plate, bowl, serving set, vase, tagine, and ceramic piece is shaped, decorated, and finished by hand using traditional techniques, making each one unique.
For us, Harnile is more than ceramics. It is a way of sharing the culture, artistry, and traditions of the Middle Atlas while supporting the artisans who continue this craft. We are proud to bring a small piece of our home into yours.
Our Craft
Our work is centered on the ceramic traditions of the Middle Atlas. We collaborate with local artisans whose families have worked with clay for generations. These craftsmen developed their skills through years of practice, learning the technical aspects of clay, the wheel, and the kiln from those before them.
- At Harnile, each item is shaped by hand or wheel-thrown, dried naturally, and then glazed. The designs are hand-painted using
- Amazigh geometric motifs, which are traditional to the Middle Atlas Mountains. The final stage involves firing the pieces in kilns to ensure the clay becomes durable and functional for daily use. We maintain these traditional methods to ensure every piece reflects the actual work of the artisan.
