  • Hello there! Welcome to Harnile .

We are a small ceramic shop located in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco, in the peaceful village of Ait Hamza . Here, ceramics are more than objects — they are expressions of culture, skill, and everyday life. Each piece carries the stories and traditions of generations of Middle Atlas artisans.

What Does “Harnile” Represent?

  • The name Harnile comes from the Amazigh language spoken in the Middle Atlas region of Morocco and refers to pottery decoration — the art of adding patterns, motifs, and details that give each ceramic piece its unique character and meaning.
  • For us, this name reflects the creativity, skill, and cultural heritage behind traditional Moroccan pottery. Decorative elements have long been an important part of ceramic craftsmanship, with artisans using symbols, colors, and hand-painted designs inspired by their communities and surroundings.
  • At Harnile, we celebrate this tradition by working with handcrafted ceramics that reflect generations of knowledge and artistic expression. Each piece carries the marks of the artisan’s hand, connecting contemporary homes with the rich pottery traditions of Morocco.

Our Story and Craft

Our work is centered on the ceramic traditions of the Middle Atlas . We collaborate with local artisans whose families have worked with clay for generations. These craftsmen developed their skills through years of practice, learning the technical aspects of clay, the wheel, and the kiln from those before them.

  • At Harnile , each item is shaped by hand or wheel-thrown, dried naturally, and then glazed. The designs are hand-painted using
  • Amazigh geometric motifs , which are traditional to the Middle Atlas Mountains. The final stage involves firing the pieces in kilns to ensure the clay becomes durable and functional for daily use. We maintain these traditional methods to ensure every piece reflects the actual work of the artisan.
